Lava Bugs Project

The Lavabugs project is an application designed to schedule car washes — whether at your location, with pickup and drop-off service, or by bringing your car to the wash site yourself. It addresses a major need in both urban and rural areas, solving the shortage of car wash facilities in certain zones and offering more flexible scheduling options for people who prefer to have their car cleaned while they focus on their day.

The problem

The problem is mainly defined based on user research conducted for the project, where various opinions and preferences regarding car washing were collected. The insights revealed several recurring pain points among users:

Unclear scheduling and transparencyUsers want to know who will wash their car, where it will be done, and how long it will take.

Preference for flexibilitySome people prefer washing their car themselves or using service stations, but only when it fits their time and quality expectations.

Limited reliable optionsPeople miss flexible and accessible services like Self-wash, which allowed users to clean their own cars with high-pressure tools and 24-hour availability.

Time-consuming home servicesWhile at-home options like Green Apple offer high quality, users mentioned that the process can take several hours to complete.

The Solution

We used the user persona method, which helped identify the goals of each of the different customer groups we would have, and allowed us to start developing solutions and also to get a glimpse of how our ideas would impact the end users.

Focused on the goals of both clients and end users, we were able to establish certain user journeys that allowed us to start developing solutions and also to get a glimpse of how our ideas would impact the end users.

The result was a fairly familiar application with flexible options and a user-friendly UX for the end user. The flow for scheduling a car wash is defined with simple and accessible options, allowing users to choose where they want their vehicle to be washed, as well as their preferred time and location.

It is designed to be as user-friendly as possible while also aligning with the business goals, thus allowing user feedback to continuously improve the service. In the end, we have an innovative app for the car wash niche. If you enjoyed the design process demonstration and are interested in knowing more, send me a message!
